The perfect French Christmas event in Montreuil-sur-Mer

For a captivating Christmas event, Montreuil-sur-Mer is the place to be for a special weekend of celebration. Featuring a fabulous wine fair, sublime gourmet dinner, carol singers and an enchanting Christmas market – this event will certainly get you in a festive mood.

It all takes place on 7 and 8 December 2019, and it promises to be one of the best Christmas experiences of the season.

Christmas wine fair

From 10h-18h on 7 December and 10h-16h on 8 December, the Cave de Montreuil will hold a wine fair in the historic citadel of the hill top town of Montreuil-sur-Mer. It’s a chance for you to taste and buy the finest wines, Champagne and spirits.

It’s impossible to taste a fine wine without a good glass, so La Cave de Montreuil is offering a free wine glass with each paid entry (6 Euros per person). You’ll certainly be well equipped to enjoy the produce from various French regions, grape varieties and grand crus. The big classics will be present: Chablis 1er cru, Pouilly Loche, Sancerre, Grand cru de Bourgogne, Chateauneuf du Pape, Saint Joseph, Côtes Rôties, Saint Julien, Margaux, Saint Estephe and Bollinger champagne to name just a few. There will also be wine from lesser known areas but no less delicious, it’s a great chance to discover some new favourites.

Not only will you have the opportunity to taste a vast array of wines but also rums, gins and brandies. Helping you make a real treat of the day, a gourmet food stand at the wine fair is going to be so tempting!

An artisan Christmas market will be held in the pretty the Rue du Clape-en-Bas, Montreuil-sur-Mer, starts 7 December, 2019.
