Everything You Want to Know About France and More...

It’s beginning to feel a bit like Christmas!

Janine Marsh on tour in france

Bonjour!

Are you feeling festive yet – it’s only a couple of weeks until Christmas but as usual I am very last minute with sorting things out except when it comes to The Good Life France Advent Calendar.  I’ve been posting a photo a day from all round France of different towns in all their festive finery and if you’ve missed it – hop on over to Facebook and enjoy the lovely images.

This weekend I’ll be at the Licques Turkey Festival and Gourmet Fair. It’s a rather quirky Christmas event held in what is known locally as “Turkey Town”. Monks started breeding birds in the town of Licques near Calais hundreds of years ago. To this day the Licques birds are famous in France. I love this weekend for its gastronomic gathering of producers and artisans, local and from all over France. And for the huge tent in which hundreds and hundreds of people indulge in local cuisine, great local beers and wines from further afield. There’s even a bit of dancing goes on! It’s a really fun festival and I enjoy it to the full as you can see in the picture above where I’m posing with the Brotherhood of Pommes de Terres who are there to take part in a parade through the town (ps I am the one who is not dressed like a potato!).

Whatever you have planned – I wish you a very bon weekend,
Best wishes,
Janine
