Versailles is just a few miles from the centre of Paris and you should wear comfy shoes for this visit because the monumental Chateau and grounds have to be seen to be believed. An absolutely incredible feat of planting awaits you as the blooming flower beds resemble paint palettes and the exquisite lily pond is like a real life Monet painting.

You’ll also get to visit the little town of Giverny, authentic and pretty as a picture.

Loire gardens tour

You’ll be based in the lovely, historic town of Amboise for your Loire valley gardens tour. The town is dominated by the royal chateau which you’ll visit with its stunning gardens overlooking the Loire river. You’ll also discover the Chateau du Clos Lucé, the last residence of Leonardo da Vinci with its romantic, bucolic gardens filled with artworks and fascinating designs by the great Renaissance man.

Villandry, a masterpiece of formal gardens, the stunning Chateau of Azay le Rideau and the Chateau of Chaumont where the most important garden festival in France takes place from April to October are all on your schedule.

And, it doesn’t end there. You’ll also visit the ancient Chateau de Chinon, the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud and the extraordinary Chateau le Rivau with its fairy tale gardens, complete with a Rapunzel like tower.

Finally the Chateau de Chenonceau and Chateau de Chambord are on your itinerary.
