A look at the best events in France June 2014…

Fête de la Musique 21 June – annual free music festival takes place throughout Paris and France – performances of all kinds from classical music, choirs in churches, hip hop, jazz, orchestra and pop taking place in the open air, bars and restaurants.

Paris Jazz Festival – throughout June and July the annual Paris jazz festival presents a summer programme of free concerts in the Parc Floral, check the website for what’s on and when (Travel: RER A Vincennes / Metro Château de Vincennes (line 1))

Brittany, Tréguier: The Pardon of Saint-Gildas, also called “Pardon the horses,” is celebrated in early June. At low tide, pilgrims, hikers, riders and their mounts have exceptional access to the private island of St Gildas, off Port Blanc.

Pas de Calais, Audresselles: Festival of the crab 8-9 June. This authentic little festival takes place in the fishing village of Audresselles (D940 coastal road) and it’s a chance to join in a heart-warming and fun celebration as the local fishermen sell their haul straight from the beach with music and sea shanties!

Auvergne 27-29 June. The town of St Flour comes alive for three days of live shows, balls, art and craft markets, and for the Festival des Hautes-Terres: a cultural, creative, and festive event with local and international artists who gather together around the theme of the mountains

Alsace, Strasbourg 7-15 June.  Strasbourg Music Festival – in a beautiful city this three weeks long festival offers the opportunity to listen to high calibre musicians and orchestras from all over the world playing in selected venues across the town.

Central , Val de Loire 14-15 June. Le Mans – French 24 Hour Grand Prix, speed and thrills at the International circuit at Le Mans.
