Cream cakes with chocolate and fruit decorations with Bon Weekend from France across the top

Bonjour

Happy New Year – in France we say it all through January!

I hope you had fun and a relaxing start to 2019.

I’ve made my new year resolutions but it’s not going to be easy with all the boulangeries and patisseries I come across in France. It’s pretty much like “I’m going to lose weight, I’m going to exercise, I’m going to diet… is that cake?”!

One thing I am definitely going to do is walk the dogs more. I sometimes opt out when it’s raining or cold or I’ve got an urgent bit of writing to do. Hank the Honker, the friendly goose I pass en route, has inspired me to go by more!

I’m very much looking forward to bringing you more great articles about France and all things French. And, I’d love to know if you have any suggestions for what you’d like me to write about, comment and questions… just hit reply to contact me!

Me, Mark, the dogs Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Bruno and Churchill, cats Winston, Loulou, Shadow, Fat Cat and Little Boy, my 4 crazy geese, Brad Pitt and George Clooney and the other cockerels and chickens and all the ducks wish you good health, happiness, peace and prosperity for 2019…

Bisous from France,
Janine

Bonjour, Hope you had a great week. Strangely the weather has been okay here. I’ve been seeing photos of snow in some parts of Europe as winter arrives, but there’s nothing like that in my bit of northern France. I keep reading that colder weather is on its way, (the Beast from the East some […]

Happy New Year from the middle of nowhere rural France

Bonjour Hope you had a lovely Christmas. Here it was a quiet Christmas as usual, not too much razzmatazz in the middle of nowhere rural France. Farmers carry on as normal, early mornings, milking cows, feeding livestock, though not much work in the fields as the ground is either frozen or sodden this time of […]

Merry Christmas from the middle of nowhere France

Hope you had a great week. Here Christmas is in full swing – quite literally as its been very windy and the inflated Father Christmases that everyone seems to love so much here are blowing in the gales. They hang from gutters, chimneys and windows, some are life-sized, some less so. They’re very odd, I […]

Bon weekend from frosty France

Bonjour Hope you had a great week. Here it’s been proper frosty in the mornings and very cold, even during the day the frost has stayed thick on the ground, sparkling when a ray of sun manages to get through the clouds. I have had to carry buckets of water down to the bird pens […]

Bon weekend from France & Happy December…

Bonjour Hope you had a great week. I’ve had the sort of week where things don’t quite go to plan. As a result, the winter magazine which I thought would be ready to reach you today, will in fact be next week. I hope the delay creates anticipation which makes it even better when it […]
