A most beautiful Chateau to rent in France
An avenue flanked by burbling fountains, beautiful cypress trees, vineyards, a rose garden and an ancient stone walled pigeonnier lead you through dappled shade to the centuries old Chateau. Inside, the opulent rooms are filled with antiques and paintings and history oozes from the walls. Built on ancient land with Roman roots, this is a real life fairy tale castle located in one of the oldest fortified towns in south West France.
Staying in this enchanting and dreamy Chateau is like stepping back in time. The gorgeous bedrooms overlook the scented gardens and private apartments have their own courtyards. The light breeze in this sunny part of France whispers of days gone by and wakens your senses to the breath-taking and seductive beauty of this unique Chateau and its park lands.
Wander down to the Grand Salon and marvel at its history, here in the 16th Century, it is said that the lord of the Chateau served Armagnac at a party. Almost 500 years later, the owners of the Chateau developed their own Armagnac; it was considered one of the greatest of its kind and served exclusively on Concorde.
To this day, that attention to detail, the love of fine things, the production of the very best remains at the heart of the Chateau which is now shared with guests. The grand salon is still a fabulous place to enjoy with friends and family. The ancient cellar where the Armagnac was stored, known as a “chais”, and one of the oldest and biggest in Gascony is now a romantic reception hall – perfect for parties, events, concerts and weddings.
There is a gym, sauna and swimming pool, big screen film room, roller skating area in the cellar and music room with instruments for guests to use. The Chateau has a resident concierge service for guests but this isn’t like any other rental, you’ll be made to feel as though this is your home. It is a rare chance to feel like the lord or lady of an authentic French Chateau.

Around and about
Often called the “French Tuscany”, this area of Gascony is also known as “The country of a thousand Chateaux” and is the birth place of famous Musketeer d’Artagnan. Although it might be hard to tear yourself away from the relaxed ambience of the Chateau, there is plenty to do and see in the area with Biarritz, Toulouse and Bordeaux all less than 1.5 hours away.
The Chateau is close to the pretty town of Montreal-du-Gers with its vineyards and fields of sunflowers, and the nearby beautiful Landes pine forest. Created by Napoleon III along the Atlantic coast from Bordeaux to Biarritz, it is the most extensive forest in Europe and you will often smell the salty pine-perfumed fragrance as it wafts over the countryside. This lovely village was originally called Mont Royal, thanks to the legend that Henry IV spent a night of passion there, smitten with the charms of a pretty local shepherdess.
The area is famous for its wines and although once an important producer of Armagnac, these days it is wine that is produced here at the Chateau. The wine is made exclusively for guests, grown on vines in the Chateau grounds where the Romans too would have enjoyed the sunny climate and wonderful terroir that is so perfect for the grapes.
The Chateau staff will help you organise wine tasting events, picnics on the river, French cuisine workshops, floral display classes, hot air ballooning and lots more. You can enjoy musical evenings, concerts, plays, flea markets, petanque and the famous marionettes theatres in the local villages.
You won’t find this exquisite Chateau in any guidebook, the name is kept secret so that guests can be completely relaxed and uninterrupted – a hidden gem where time stands still…
