Hapless French junior health minister Nora Berra gave some “helpful” advice over the weekend for the homeless. In her blog (which has since been deleted) she said that toddlers, the elderly, the sick and the homeless are especially vulnerable to extreme cold and should “avoid going outdoors”.
Her startlingly silly advice to the homeless to stay home has prompted a flurry of responses and she has been the subject of much ridicule with one wag suggesting that “Homeless friends, if you have a second home in the Southern Hemisphere, this is the moment to benefit!” and other suggestions that her job description required an IQ of less than 40.
