French footballers asked to donate their bonuses to charity

Notre-Dame des Sans Abri, a charity based in Lyons which helps the homeless has written to the France football team to ask them to give up their bonus for a good cause.

The Italian football team have apparently agreed to donate their bonuses to the region of Emillia-Romagna which has suffered from a series of devastating earthquakes.

The French players have not endeared themselves to the public in recent times. Their disappointing performance and early elimination from 2012 and the off and on pitch behaviour of some of the players which has resulted in disciplinary action for four of them  has damaged the reputation of the team. Despite this its reported that each member of the 23 man European Championship squad will receive around €100,000.

At this time there is no update on whether Les Blues will take the chance to impress the public with a good deed and make the charity a donation that they say will make a real difference to the lives of hundreds of people in need.
