Australian actress Cate Blanchett has been awarded a national distinction in France – the French Chevalier Medal.
The award is in recognition of Ms Blanchett’s “significant contributions to the arts and literature”.
Currently in Paris touring the with the Sydney Theatre Company for which she is both artistic director and leading actress, Ms Blanchett was presented with her coveted award, one of France’s highest cultural honours by the nephew of former President, the late Francois Miterrand.
The Sydney Theatre Company is touring Europe and will appear in London, Vienna and Recklinhausen in Germany this year.
