A story doing the rounds in the press at the moment is that of the unfortunate tourist agency for France – Atout. It is the state-run tourist agency in fact and it has been caught publicising various scenes of France – but using images of other countries or doctored images of other countries. The deceit was raised when a photographer saw an advertising poster portraying a beach in Northern France and recognised it as a beach in South Africa. The poster was quickly updated with a new photo, but for the unfortunate agency the replacement was spotted to be a beach in Florida.
We at The Good Life France would like encourage staff of Atout to come to Northern France and take some photographs. The coast line and resorts will yield rich pickings and stunning photos and will save them from further embarrassment though it may be too late to prevent them from being investigated as they are by the French photographers’ and journalists’ union PAJ.
